Usage-Oriented Evolution of Ontology-Based Knowledge Management Systems

چکیده
In this paper, we present a novel approach for the management of the ontology-based knowledge management system. It extends our previous work in the ontology evolution by taking into account the usage of the ontology in the knowledge management system. The approach is mainly based on the analysis of the users’ behaviour in two phases of a knowledge management cycle: (i) in providing knowledge by analysing the quality of annotations and (ii) in searching for knowledge by analysing users’ queries and the responses from the knowledge repository. This analysis results in the recommendations for changes in the underlying ontology, the annotations and/or the knowledge repository in order to make the whole system more efficient. We present two short case studies.

Ontology-Based Knowledge Management in Service-Oriented Systems
This paper proposes an innovative framework for knowledge management in service-oriented systems. An important novelty of our framework is that it allows for automatic instance level evolution of the knowledge base and that it integrates conceptual level knowledge base evolution with the overall service-oriented system framework. In the paper, we identify several opportunities that have arisen ...
متن کاملManagement of dynamic knowledge
Purpose: This paper presents a framework for ontology evolution tailored to Digital Libraries, which makes use of two different sources for change detection and propagation, the usage of ontologies by users and the changes of available data. Approach: After presenting the logical architecture of the evolution framework, we first illustrate how to deal with usage-driven changes, that is changes ...
متن کاملWeb Usage Mining for Ontology Management
This chapter proposes an original approach for ontology management in the context of Webbased information systems. Our approach relies on the usage analysis of the chosen Web site, in complement of the existing approaches based on content analysis of Web pages. Our methodology is based on the knowledge discovery techniques mainly from HTTP Web logs and aims at confronting the discovered knowled...
متن کاملOntology Evolution and Challenges
Information semantics and semantic interoperability among applications, systems, and services are mostly based on ontology. Its increase usage in Information Systems and Knowledge Sharing Systems raises the importance of ontology maintenance. Ontology change management incorporates areas like ontology engineering, evolution versioning, merging, integration, and maintenance. Changes are made to ...
متن کاملDistributed Control for Robust Autonomous Logistic Processes
Logistic processes are inherently complex and dynamic. This motivates the application of robust distributed methods, such as multiagent systems, for logistic planning and control. In the present paper we outline a knowledge management oriented approach for multiagent-based autonomous logistic processes. Recent results from simulations give rise to the assumption that efficient usage of knowledg...
